Bed bug adults are reddish brown, oval, flattened insects from 4-5 mm long and 1.5-3 mm wide before feeding. Engorged adults tend to be swollen and dull red. The eggs are white, oval, about 1 mm long and covered in a sticky film which allows them to adhere to surfaces.
A newly hatched nymph is almost colourless where as engorged nymphs are reddish and swollen. They feed on animal or human blood mainly at night time. Recently however, bed bugs have undergone a dramatic resurgence and worldwide there are reports of increasing numbers of infestations.
Bed bugs are one of the great travellers of the world and are readily transported via luggage, clothing, bedding and furniture. As such, they have a worldwide distribution.
At Zapem Pest Control London we use highly powerful and concentrated residual sprays that not only remove any infestations fast, but prevent them from returning.
